Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale. Complimentary valet parking will be available. Cocktail attire.
BE GREAT. This year's theme of BE GREAT will be reflected throughout the gala. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater
Scottsdale believes every child has the potential to BE GREAT. In support of this strong conviction, we strive to build caring, responsible
citizens. Our family of staff, volunteers, parents, youth, and supporters work together to create a positive place, full of hope and opportunity
for every child. Whether you are donor, alumnus, or volunteer, we can all pitch in to help kids BE GREAT.
BE A ROLE MODEL.
2010 Youth of the Year
Christian Rodriguez
Christian has been a Boys & Girls Clubs member for nine years and has
attended the Hartley & Ruth Barker Branch for the past four years. He
has participated in Club programs like Passport to Manhood, Building
Unique Development Skills (BUDS), a mentoring program where he is
partnered with a youth and serves as a positive role model, and is the
current vice president of his branch’s Keystone Club. By participating
in these programs, Christian has learned to be accepting and grateful
for what he has in his life and to be compassionate to others who are in
need. He is currently a junior at Coronado High School and plans to
pursue a career in the medical field.
Congratulations Christian!
BE INSPIRED. The highlight of the evening is the presentation and speeches of the
eight candidates vying for the
honor of the 2010 Youth of the Year. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America "Youth of the Year" program is a premier character and leadership
initiative which has been in existence for over 60 years. Recipients of the award are determined by candidates' demonstration of service to
the Club, community and family, academic performance, moral character, life goals, leadership, poise and public speaking ability. Youth of the
Year is the highest honor given to members of the organization.
